The Green Customs Initiative and The Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety

The Green Customs Initiative is a partnership of the Secretariats of six multilateral environmental agreements and four international organizations. It aims to enhance the capacity of customs and other relevant enforcement personnel to monitor and facilitate the legal trade and to detect and prevent illegal trade in the environmentally-sensitive goods or substances covered by the treaties. This side event will provide an introduction to the Green Customs Initiative and its activities as well as an overview of the SCBD’s involvement.
